Born Joseph Eric, Joe Erico was a goalkeeper, trainer and assistant coach for the Nigerian Super Eagles National Soccer Team.
He was better known by the nickname ‘Jogo Bonito’, given to him by his admirers due to the attractive style of play showcased by his teams.
Prior to being part of the Super Eagles coaching crew, Joe Erico also had a prolific career as a goalie for the national team and even he placed third at the 1976 AFCON in Ethiopia.
He was also a part of the technical crew that led Nigeria to the 2000 & 2002 African Cup of Nations and the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
On January 21st 2021, the former Nigerian goalkeeper, passed away due to ilness. Left to mourn him are his wife and children, one of whom is Nigerian National Basketball team forward, Michael Eric, Erico Jr.
